Is the private sector in the Philippines encouraged to participate in programs of basic and applied scientific research?
Answer: Yes. In fact, Congress may provide for incentives, including tax deductions. Scholarships, grants-in-aid, or other forms of incentives shall be provided to deserving science students, researchers, scientists, inventors, technologies, and specially gifted citizens. (Section 11, 1987 Philippine Constitution)
